In this article I will show you how to create nature picture using extremely cheap equipment. I will present you with the effects of using some chosen point-and-shoot cameras. Is it worth to buy such cheap equipment? Only if you don’t want to spend money on macrophotography and only make some tests. Even though the pictures, that you see are of good quality, there a hundreds other, that I have spoiled due to:

– slow and inaccurate focusing of these cameras

– camera movement, when I could not increase the shutter speed using higher ISO, because of heavy digital noise they produce even at ISO 200.

Pictures presented below were taken with 4 different compact cameras and additional accessories. Prices are from January 2020. Probably some cameras will be not available at all within 1-2 years.

Grasshopper taken with a setup Minolta Dimage Z10 (20-30$ worth) and Raynox DCR – 250 (worth 60$ new one).

A fly taken with a setup Kodak Easyshare M530 (20-25$ worth) and projection lens Krytar 85 f/2.8 (worth ca. 40$).

A fly taken with a setup Olympus C300 Zoom (30$ worth) and projection lens Krytar 85 f/2.8 (worth ca. 40$).

A butterfly taken with a setup Nikon Coolpix S220 (40$ worth) and projection lens Krytar 85 f/2.8 (worth ca. 40$).

The best one out of those 4 cameras was Minolta Z10 with its quick autofocus and detailed images. If you can afford go and buy some better one (used one for 150-200$ like Canon SX 50) which will allow you not to miss a single interesting frame.
